Position:Intern for Communication and Information Sector (CI), UNESCO Office in Beijing
Duration:15 Jun – 14 Dec 2015 (6 months)
Location:Beijing, China
RequiredQualifications:
•MasterDegree or equivalent in communication, information sciences, public policy,international relations or other relevant field;
•Fluencyin English and Chinese (oral and written). Some knowledge of Korean language isa plus;
•Goodcommunication skills, including writing skills;
•Strongresearch and analytical skills;
•Goodcomputer and IT skills and experience in using office software packages;
•Awarenessof the many facets of a multicultural world and commitment to internationalpublic service are essential.
Responsibilities:
Underthe supervision of the Programme Specialist and the National ProjectCoordinator of the CI sector, the specific duties and responsibilities of theintern will include:
•Conductresearch on media policy and media development, journalism education, ICTdevelopment, information accessibility for persons with disabilities and otherrelevant issue areas;
•Providesupport to the Sector’s project and event management;
•Proofreadpublications translated from English to Chinese;
•Translatevarious documents from Chinese to English and vice-versa;
•Assistin updating and maintaining the office website;
•Takeon additional responsibilities as required.

•Theaim of the internship is to give you professional experience in aninternational organization which relates to and supplements your studies;
•Aninternship affords you the opportunity to work in a multicultural,intergovernmental organization;
•UNESCOdoes not remunerate or pay interns. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas,and accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns ortheir sponsoring institutions;
•Asthe internship programme is not connected with the recruitment process, thegrating of an internship should not be interpreted in any way as a preliminarystep towards employment at the Secretariat.
