account coordinator

purpose of the position:
to do great pr for great companies. this position is an integral part of an account team and provides pr support for a project, product or client. the focus on this entry-level account position is to execute the basics of public relations (research, writing, media relations, coverage tracking, drafting and coordinating production of press materials).

accountabilities:

media relations
• manage and fulfill requests from influentials (journalists and analysts) when appropriate.
• begin building editorial relationships with trade/local press.
• create and update media lists.
• utilize resources such as relationship database, library services, publications, websites, etc. to understand the audiences, interests and preferences of relevant influential.
• coordinate logistics and schedules for influentials regarding client events and projects through proactive outreach and/or on-sight support.

client service
• increase awareness and understanding for team and client by reading coverage daily about one’s client, competitors and industry.
• track and analyze coverage resulting from pr efforts and create clipping reports.
• research editorial calendars and recommend appropriate opportunities to target.
• assist in developing speaker’s bureaus. identify appropriate speaking venues for your clients, submit proposals to secure participation and supply relevant information.
• manage awards programs. identify appropriate awards opportunities for your clients’ technologies, draft and submit contest entries, track and report results.
• draft and coordinate production of press materials including press releases, fact sheets, backgrounders, customer profiles, client biographies, media alerts, email correspondence, etc.
• write and coordinate production of client materials including briefing books, coverage clip reports, status reports, email correspondence, etc.
• manage approval process for third party press materials.
• work with outside vendors (photographers, designers, clipping services, etc.) to enhance client service.

agency business
• meet we guidelines on best business practices including utilization, daily timesheets, accurate billing, timely expense reports, etc.
• add information to we database based on coverage, contact with and research about influentials.
• understand and utilize internal client service teams (editing, production, library, etc.) to ensure quality, comprehensive service to clients.
• participate in professional development classes, utilize employee education fund and shadow staff members for learning and continual improvement. actively share what your learn.
• participate in team or agency projects as assigned.

qualifications

education
• bachelors degree or above preferred in communications, journalism, marketing, english or related field

experience preferred
• 0-2 years of professional experience
• proficiency in using computer and standard office applications (microsoft office is preferred)
• worked in a team environment
• managed multiple projects simultaneously
• worked under deadline pressure
• developed written materials that are organized, professional and concise
• understands of the role of the media
