Position Overview:

An Internship position is available at the European Chamber’s Beijing Office
. The intern will assist the Head of Government Affairs and Government Relati
ons Coordinator.

Key responsibilities including monitoring the industrial and trade developmen
ts in China and the EU; responding to inquiries on Chinese laws, regulations
and policies, and supporting the activities of the government relations depar
tment and the Working Groups. The position also involves supporting the super
visors with the coordination and organization of Working Group meetings as we
ll as with the drafting of the European Business in China Position Paper;

Specific duties include:

1. Analyzing and compiling Calls for Comments on legislation drafts
2. Compiling and disseminating daily government updates
3. Regulatory and market research
4. Writing meeting minutes and general reports
5. English-Chinese translation, occasional oral translations
6. Compiling Working Group newsletters
7. Tracking lobby activities


The internship presents an opportunity to gain valuable experience within the
areas that the Chamber is involved in, including lobbying, events and organi
zing WG meetings with European industry.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

1. Advanced written and spoken English;
2. Excellent interpersonal skills (strong sense of responsibility, details-or
iented and communication skills etc.) with self-motivation to learn and achie
ve from an internship;
3. Basic understanding of the Chinese government structure and legislation pr
ocess;
4. Industry knowledge, strong personal interest and/or previous experience in
trade policy lobbying are a key asset.


This internship runs for 6 months. Eligible candidates must be enrolled in a
bachelor or postgraduate program and willing to work from the office for at l
east 4 days per week. Students with a 6 month working semester are strongly e
ncouraged to apply. Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be cont
acted.

Upon successful completion of the internship, a letter of recommendation sign
ed by the Chamber Secretary General will be provided as a reference.
