The Corporate Affairs Executive is key member of the Asia Pacific corporate affairs team. S/he is responsible for supporting public relations, media relations, administration, corporate responsibility events and internal reporting.

The Corporate Affairs Executive plays an important role in enhancing the visibility of Thomson Reuters in the region. The successful candidate needs to be well organised, detailed, and collaborative, and work with a diverse group of stakeholders. He/she needs to earn the trust of his/her internal and external stakeholders.
The Corporate Affairs Executive works closely with colleagues in Japan, China, Hong Kong and India together with colleagues in Europe and the US to raise awareness of the company’s businesses, reputation and supports the company’s overall business goals.

The individual should be able to take initiatives and collaborate closely with team members. In addition, s/he should be able to monitor media coverage and provide a daily update of company news.


The focus of this role will call for the candidate to:

• Identify opportunities (topical and regional) to tell a wider Thomson Reuters message that supports both the business division and broader organization’s goals

• Help develop and research narratives that will position Thomson Reuters as an industry leader among its constituent groups

• Prepare weekly and monthly reports for internal stakeholders by monitoring press release coverage, data attribution and interviews

• Maintain a media database and build the company’s relationships with journalists

• Prepare call minutes, facilitate ad hoc research and administrative support when required to ensure smooth running of the team

• Work closely with corporate affairs team and research counterparts in the US, UK/ Europe to ensure that work is seamlessly coordinated

• Facilitating and monitoring social media opportunities and company accounts

• Identify and execute opportunities for key spokespeople at conferences, industry associations and via relevant broadcast media outlets

• Write and distribute media releases, powerpoint documents, clipping reports and media pitches as necessary

• Leverage and pitch Thomson Reuters data, league tables, content and research in tier-one financial media outlets regionally

• Leverage Thomson Reuters events and assist with corporate responsibility, Diversity & Inclusion programmes

• Deliver a reliable service to the media, and respond proactively and reactively to journalists’ enquiries on deadline

• Define key metrics of measurement and track the corporate affairs department’s success


SKILLS:

• Track record of working with financial journalists in print, online and broadcast community

• Strong verbal and written English language skills

• Chinese-English translation skills are desirable

• Knowledge of social media

• Ability to work closely with a diverse mix of people and the ability to speak to journalists

• Strong interpersonal skills and organizational understanding


EXPERIENCE:

• At least 1-3 years public relations/media relations experience within an PR agency or in-house role in news or professional services

• Fluency in Chinese Mandarin or other Asian languages

• Knowledge of region’s media landscape

• Knowledge of financial markets and professional services

• Bachelors degree (finance, economics, communications or public relations degree preferred)
